Rainier and Gracie are wondering where their netting is, we are so stunning in ours!
This is where we are staying for two days, saw no Northern Lights, but the sun comes up at 4am and sets at 10:30pm
This is the Municipal RV Park, very nice but no internet, lots of caravans meet here to start their trek to Alaska
This is Tubby's RV "resort" not what I thought it would be, but we didn't stay here no internet
In 1942 Dawson Creek was the last train stop north, it had 600 people in it when the US Government decided to send 10,000 army soldiers to build a road to Alaska, the townspeople called it an invasion, but a friendly invasion, 3,600 of those soldiers were African American soldiers, who were promised they would never been sent to a cold climate
All of this area is about trains and fur trading, the train station wasn't going to be built here, but when a farmer from another town south of here couldn't come to terms with the railroad company they decided to build it here, in Dawson Creek, trouble was the town was 2 miles south of there, so they put the whole town on logs and used horses to move the town to the railway station
When they started the Alaska Highway they put up a mile post marker number "0", that mile post marker was plowed down by a town drunk, so they put up another marker, Halloween pranksters took it and replaced it with an outhouse, so they bolted this one down to concrete
This couple travels with these green chickens, I think they were salt & pepper shakers at some point, they have holes in the top.
Her friends travel with them too, the chickens just came back from Cancun, bet you can figure out their names....you got it, Green eggs, and Ham!
