Jasper for two days

We have been in Jasper for two days at Whistler National Campground, we were suppose to have full hookups but our reservations were messed up and we got no hookups. This campground fills up fast and you can not stay here if you don't have reservations months in advance. There are 780 camp sites, only 70 have hookups. I took the dogs out for a run in the woods, away from the park, Cindy stayed in the motorhome, three hours later I returned, I had forgotten what number campsite we were in, thought it was 62SS, I had transposed the numbers and it was, in fact, 26SS. I went through every 60's campsite before I admitted defeat and went to the park ranger's house.

You've seen the Fairmont Hotel in Lake Louise and in Banff, now here it is in Jasper, but with a different twist

Maligne Lake, with Spirit Island on it is one of the top attractions in Jasper

The exchange rate must be good for Japan, there are Japanese tourist everywhere, in big buses and also in RV's

Cindy caught this Caribou just outside of downtown Jasper, there are two kinds of Caribou, Woodland and Artic, this is a Woodland Caribou. Noone knows why they are diminishing, you can't hunt them now. (This is a caribou, disguised as an elk, we spent the day in a museum today)

The Jasper Fire Department

This is downtown Jasper, not what we had expected, one long string of shops facing the railroad and mountains, different than Banff, but bigger than Lake Louise.

Everywhere we go in Canada there are hundreds of these Cruisecanada RV rentals, they seem to have foreign people in them, like it is part of a tour package from afar.

These people on the bench gave us the thumbs up for our "Save the World, vote Bush out" bumper sticker on our car, there was actually a group of people in the street laughing and carrying on about it later.

We have looked high and low for where everyone in the Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper area go for groceries or even to buy a hammer, this is the little IGA in Jasper, the biggest store we have seen. Reasonable prices though, banana's 49 cents a pound.

After looking off the road for wildlife, we see this cutie sitting at the campsite right next to ours in Jasper.

Are you two at the ocean now? We are getting ready to start out on the Alaska Highway, does this bring back any memories of when you did it Sharon?
