Odds and Ends of Dawson City

This is where we are staying Bonanza RV Park
The RV repair shop is literally right across the street, I think it is a crack in the flare of the tubing, don't know if they can fix it but we are going to try tomorrow and see, if not, we are going to have to drive back to Whitehorse with our generator's running all the way, so that our refrigerator will run and keep our frozen meat frozen

These are the only 50 Amp hookups and they said they aren't leaving anytime soon

This is us on the left, nice quiet place $35 a night

In case you get lost

We took a drive up the Dome to see the view
The Dome was a result of platonic shifts in the earth, most of the gold is found to the west of the dome and coal, silver and other minerals to the east, the road up the dome was built by the steamship and rail companies to give people something to look at when they ferried them up here from Whitehorse, townspeople come up here on June 21st to see the sun come in

The Klondike is coming in from the left, merging into the Yukon, most of the gold was found on the Klondike

View of the mining tunnels, and cuts from the Dome

View of downtown from the Dome

The Yukon from the Dome

This is the Top of the World Golf Course, it's foggy because I am taking the picture miles away with my telescopic lens, on my little digital camera

This people came up here on the dome to play soccer, just a little tiny area but I guess you can say you can say you did it up here

This is where we are going Tuesday if we can get our propane fixed, it's called The Top of the World, that far road goes up on the ridge and travels for miles on the top of the mountains

We went back to Klondike Kates, we have no propane, so we HAD to eat out, who would have thought that all the way out here you could get morel mushroom tarts, and that the chef here would make his own Won Ton's from scratch, amazingly good

Prime Rib to die for and look at the little waffle potatoes on the top

Holland America and Princess, bus and boat tours are all over the place

It is 65 degrees right now in Dawson City, but with the humidity it feels like it's in the 80's, many people in their shorts and bathing suits

The ferry taking RV's across the Yukon so they can continue on to Alaska, 37 motorhomes in a Caravan will line up at 7:00AM to get on this ferry, must take them hours to do that

Looking down the Yukon River from Dawson City downtown

a bikini in that neck of the woods...........go figure!! Love the scenery, the Dome sounds cool, would love to visit there. But my all time favorite and I didn't even have to ask for pictures of it is the cemeteries........I love cemeteries, I could make a whole vacation visiting them, reading the stones, not a weird thing I just like them. I worked in one in Texas, it was so peaceful, and believe it or not, the stones can and often do tell a story. I am still enjoying this trip!!!

I think cemeteries tell the story about a town, not a hardware store, this was the strangest one I have ever been to, first I was mad because it looked like they segregated where people were buried, and then I found out no, some where buried in clubs they belonged to and some wanted to be buried in other places, but it was strange to see the wooden crosses with nothing on them, washed clean
